Protocol analyis tools with advanced support for the Wireless USB 1.1 specification announced
(via Press Release from Ellisys – July 22, 2009) Geneva, Switzerland – Ellisys, worldwide leader in protocol test and analysis solutions, today announced advance support for the Wireless USB 1.1 specification, currently in a draft status and expected to be released later this year by the Wireless USB Promoter Group. WUSB, based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, provides the high performance connectivity of wired USB, while delivering the convenience and mobility of a wireless technology. Protocol tools such as the Ellisys WEX300 system are used by technology developers in the design, debug and characterization of Wireless USB systems.

Enhancements in Wireless USB 1.1
Wireless USB 1.1 will provide improved power efficiency, enhanced association methods for first-time connection of a host and device and upper band support at 6GHz and above. Ellisys is a long-time member of the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), and is a Contributor in the Wireless USB Promoter Group‘s efforts to define and deliver the updated specification.
“The updated specification will target specific enhancements aimed at ensuring a positive user experience as well as meeting regulatory requirements for upper band support,” said Jeff Ravencraft, president and chairman of the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). “Protocol test and analysis tools for Wireless USB such as those provided by Ellisys are important to developers, who must ensure they deliver products that are compliant with the latest specifications and correctly interoperate with other WUSB products.”

Ellisys WEX300 Wireless USB protocol analyzer and generator systems are in stock and ready for delivery. Updated WEX300 applications supporting specification version 1.1 are available on request and are provided at no charge.
